Modeling Convective Flows Using Bond Graphs

ثبت نشده
چکیده

This article, together with two companion papers, offers a general methodology for modeling thermodynamical phenomena using true, rather than pseudo-, bond graphs. This paper deals in particular with the diÆcult problem of modeling mass ows in a thermodynamic sense, i.e. with the formulation of mathematical models of convective ows. No quasi-stationary or ow-equilibrium assumptions were made, such that the models generated using the proposed methodology would be kept as general as possible.

Object-Oriented Modeling of Convective Flows Using the Dymola Thermo-Bond-Graph Library

In this paper, a new thermo-bond-graph library is introduced that has been designed for modeling convective flows. It is programmed as part of the Dymola object-oriented graphical modeling environment. The use of the new library is demonstrated by means of a fairly complex example: a pressure cooker. This paper is a companion paper to the paper ObjectOriented Modeling of Complex Physical System...

Eco-bond Graphs: an Energy-based Modeling Framework for Complex Dynamic Systems with a Focus on Sustainability and Embodied Energy Flows

This article presents a general methodology for modeling complex dynamic systems, focusing on sustainability properties that emerge from tracking energy flows. We adopt the embodied energy (emergy) concept that traces all energy transformations required for running a process. Energy can therefore be studied in terms of all energy previously invested up to the primary sources, and sustainability...

Modeling One-dimensional Incompressible Duct Flows

In this paper a Bond Graph methodology described in a previous contribution is used to model incompressible one-dimensional duct flows with rigid walls. Since the volumetric flow is independent of position, the balance equations can be simplified. The volumetric flow and a nodal vector of entropy are defined as Bond Graph state variables. The state equations and the coupling with the inertial a...

Wrapping Multi-bond Graphs: a Structured Approach to Modeling Complex Multi-body Dynamics

Bond graphs have established themselves as a reliable tool for modeling physical systems. Yet, they are highly abstract due to their domain independence. Wrapping techniques allow the modeler to preserve the better of two worlds: the flexibility and reliability of bond graphs on the one hand, and the intuitive appeal and familiarity offered by a domain-specific modeling methodology on the other...
